Enabling Liquor Corporation to create rich Omnichannel Customer Journeys


Challenge –  Addressing POS end-of-life challenges

The client is responsible for managing the imports, sale and distribution of alcohol beverages in a Canadian province.

As part of their focus on deepening customer engagement, the client were looking to improve omnichannel experiences.  The company were also looking to increase efficiencies in the retail systems while addressing the end-of-life challenges in the current POS systems. One of the efficiencies they were looking at was improving inventory management to better support store associates.

Based on the depth of expertise & knowledge of Oracle Retail Applications (including Xstore POS), the client decided to partner with SkillNet.

Solution –   Partnering with SkillNet for seamless Oracle Xstore Upgrade

The SkillNet team evaluated the client’s requirements and recommended a plan for and efficient upgrade to the end-of-life POS systems. In order to reduce customization, SkillNet also recommended a minor Relate upgrade and the StoreHub accelerator. Based on inputs provided by SkillNet, the client decided to use EFTLink as a middleware between Xstore and TenderRetail.

Together, the SkillNet and client teams also overcame multiple challenges caused by COVID 1i.. These included world-wide Covid restrictions which prevented in-person team meetings.  There were hardware concerns too since the hardware that the client planned to use could not be sent to the offshore development team. Despite these and other challenges, the teams worked together and to ensure on-time delivery.

Benefits & Results of an Oracle Xstore Upgrade

After a seamless Xstore upgrade, the client is on a revised digital roadmap which includes secure commerce transactions. This has enabled them to optimize the benefits of Oracle Xstore and provide rich & improved omnichannel experiences to clients. The upgrade has also ensured that the client has the capabilities for improving mobile experiences in the near future.
