J.Crew is a multi-brand, multi-channel, specialty apparel and accessory retailer with 248 retail stores, multiple e-commerce sites (jcrew.com; madewell.com; factory.jcrew.com), as well as catalogs.
J.Crew wanted to re-platform their system to allow for continued growth, ease of use, and an enhanced customer experience. While undergoing this transition, they also wanted to migrate their call center to the same e-commerce platform, as well as implement a new e-commerce warehouse management system.
To improve their online infrastructure and future scalablity, J.Crew chose to re-platform to support their growing web business. As their chosen partner, SkillNet implemented Blue Martini J2EE platform for their e-commerce solution and integrated an Endeca-based search solution onto J.Crew’s website to help visitors search for and find products quickly. Additionally, the platform incorporated third party application integrations, a customized returns process, an order management system, and extension of the catalog search capabilities to J.Crew’s call center application. Implementation initially launched in the US, Canada, and Japan. SkillNet later helped J.Crew deploy the solution globally in over 125 countries internationalizing the site.
Since the internationalization effort, SkillNet has been handling site enhancement and integration projects for J.Crew including product detail enhancements, enterprise selling (selling store inventory on the e-commerce site), real-time inventory, Xstore, and Pricebook.
